Garage Parking in Boston for $150 a month?!?!

So i just came across this little secret and it’s not a “reverse commute” option. Its a full time garage parking spot in Boston, but there is a catch….You need to live in Bay Village. When people look at neighborhoods in downtown Boston, many overlook Bay Village and focus on the Back Bay or the South End, but to me, this makes the Bay Village option even more enticing. Right around the corner of Bay Village located on Stuart Street and Charles Street South is the Revere Hotel  (formally the Radisson) and this is where you can find this deal. I called yesterday and they said you just need to prove residence with a lease or a bill of some sort to get the discounted rate. With other garages in the city ranging from $350-$425 a month, this is an absolute steal! I can’t promise that this deal will go on forever, but I thought I should at least spread the word.

If you are looking for Rentals in Bay Village, check out some listings here. Bay Village Rental Listings

Also if you are looking for a Great 1 bedroom rental I have 1 available now as well.1 Bedroom on Fayette Street

Also, If you arent sure where Bay Village is, here is the map of the neighborhood

Tall Ships are in Boston! Take a Water Taxi too!!

Yesterday I ventured out in Boston and took a long walk over to the Charlestown Navy Yard. I also brought my camera and my new Canon 10-22 lens (which i now love).  I really didn’t do much research about the Tall Ships being in town, but I went over to Charlestown because that was where most of the boats were last time they were here.  I was a little disappointed in the lack of tall ships this year, then i found out most of  the ships  were in the Seaport District (remember, I didn’t do any research).  I walked around the Navy Yard for a bit more and I grabbed some grub and drinks over at Tavern on the Water. Guac and chips were not all that bad by the way….My girlfriend and I ended up taking a water taxi for 10 bucks a person over to Legal Harborside and got a killer tour of the harbor and the Tall Ships. I highly suggest going out there and checking out the sights. If you have never taken a water taxi, I highly suggest that too. The tall ships are here for another week, so if you are in Boston, check them out!! Below are some pics i took of my day.

Walked down the Charles River. The boat in the back is the barge with the 4th of July fireworks. Duck Tour in the Front.

Few Naval Ships and a cool old crane

I didn’t read the plaque on this particular boat, But I love the pic.

Swedish Naval Boat with police boats

The Water Taxi and our driver

A Little blurry, but still a beautiful boat ride.

One of my favorite Tall Ships

Almost at our destination

The final destination.

Vintage Video of Boston’s Charles River

I must admit that i search Youtube and Vimeo for cool and unique things to put on my blog. In this case, this is a short home made film taken of the Charlers River in 1939.  Some guy found his dad’s old vhome movie footage and put it up on the web. The clarity is pretty rough, but I like it.

Wonderful Video of the History of the South End…Must Watch!

If you live in the South End or live in Boston, you should  watch this video. This was a documentary that was aired by WGBH in 1995. It gives great insight into how the South End used to be and what type of neighborhood it was.  A few years ago, I walked through the building Allan Rohan Crite (interviewed) used to own. After he passed, It  was on the market for sale and it was a total gut job and the place was in really bad shape. There were a few remnants of his work left in the old run down building, but  at the time, I really didn’t have much appreciation for what I was walking through. Now the building is worth millions and has a plaque on it that recognizes the artists contribution to the community.  I now imagine how many other buildings have such an amazing history  and the stories that are not as public. What a great area.

Two Things I love… The South End and the Phantom Gourmet

If you are ever looking for a new neighborhood to live in or an neighborhood to visit for great eats, I highly recommend the South End. I currently live in the Back Bay but I see myself going to more and more toSouth End restaurants these days. Another thing that I love about Boston is the Phantom Gourmet. Put the two together and you get a fantastic drool fest of South End goodness. Here is a clip featuring some of my favorite places; Masa, Toro, Mistral and Stella. Check it out!

Just Sold! Rutland Street Penthouse for 2.6 Million

I have to admit, this is one of the coolest penthouses ever to be built in the South End.  As the most expensive condo sold so far in 2012 in the South End, it should be pretty awesome. This was a recent renovation of the old “Project Place” which was a homeless and low income assistance program (which is a great cause and still exists). This particular penthouse duplex is 1 of 6 units that has about everything that you could Imagine: Direct Elevator Access, 2 Fireplaces, Enormous Master Suite, Surround Sound throughout, 3.5 bedrooms, garage parking, modern metal and wood railings, 2 decks (with 1 being 1100sf with outdoor kitchen and grill and a 6 person hot tub, with tv). The Master bath is in a class of it’s own. It boasts a whirlpool tub with a tv built in, and the master shower has the Kohler 12 jet digital shower system which is just absurdly awesome, oh, and a TV in the shower too. I’m amazingly excited for my clients and I’m sure they will be happy here for several years to come!!

So far, 5 of 6 have been sold with the largest and priciest one left which can be seen here The last one left is a large lower duplex with even more bells and whistles, so check out that listing.

Below are some pictures or the sold Penthouse.
